Admission
Admittance to the Communal Housing Project is possible
Your children will be admitted to the house with you. Boys older than 14 are not allowed in the Communal Housing Program. If necessary children can be assisted and counseled by the staff of BORA Non-Residential Help ["Ambulante Hilfen"] for kids from violent homes.
If you are interested in the Communal Housing Program please give us a call. We will make an appointment for you to learn more about what the project has to offer, and for us to find out about your needs and problems. Together we will make a decision about what is in your best interest: to join the Communal Housing Program or to get in touch with one of the many other BORA services.
The Communal Housing Program is funded by the Federal Public Welfare Act ("Bundessozialhilfegesetz BSGH"). Psychiatric Services ("Sozialpsychiatrischer Dienst") has to make sure that admission requirements are complied with. Otherwise the Social Welfare Office will not agree to pay for your counseling. Usually this means that you have to talk to a doctor from Psychiatric Services. We offer to accompany you to this appointment, and - if you wish - to be present during the talk.
You have to pay rent for your rooms in the Communal Housing Program. If you are on welfare, rent is paid by the Social Welfare Office. But even with an income of your own, you still might be eligible for supplementary welfare benefits ("Ergänzende Sozialhilfe"). We will assist you with all the necessary formalities. If you are currently renting an apartment you have to give notice when you move into the Communal Housing Project.
