What we offer
In the Communal Housing Program women social workers, a woman psychologist and an occupational therapist work during the day. Night shifts start at 10 pm and are staffed by a trained team of women psychology or related studies students and one on-call staff member. All women employed by the Communal Housing Program are experienced in working with the mentally ill and are trained in crisis intervention and often bring additional qualifications to their work, especially in the field of psychological traumatization.
We provide 24 hours crisis intervention. There is somebody there for you to talk to whenever you need to, day or night. In your healing process you will be supported by two women counselors. They hold individual therapy sessions with you on a regular basis to help you overcome your problems and reach the goals you set for yourself when you moved into the house. There are also groups sessions offered as well as a range of occupational therapy programs. In general attendance at group sessions is voluntary. However, you will be asked to participate in specific groups. Attendance at those is mandatory.
We refer women to agencies specializing in financial ("Schuldnerberatung") or legal counseling. We also work closely with doctors and therapists. However, we will not we consult outside specialists without your consent.
Depending on your particular needs we offer you specific counseling, therapy, and assistance and decide how long you need to stay in the housing projects. Usually, admittance is for a period of six or twelve months. This period can be extended.
The goal of our mutual efforts is to bring you to a point where you can live independently in an apartment or house of your own. We want you to return to an emotionally secure and psychologically stable life and be able move to safely into living spaces where less assistance and care is provided.
Should you realize that you cannot make use of the services we offer you may leave the program at any time regardless of the period of time for which you were originally admitted.
We will step back from our responsibilities if you refuse to cooperate with staff and therapists for an extended period of time or severely violate the House Rules.
