What We Offer For Kids – An Overview

Dear women the staff of the women's shelter's kid's area would like to tell you about their work with kids:

The temporary stay in the women's shelter with all the accompanying changes of everyday life is as difficult for your child as for yourself. It is a trying situation where your child has to get used to many changes in a very short time. We want to guide, assist and support you and your child during this transition.

With your help and our work we hope that your children will easily get used to life in the shelter, forget their troubles, and have fun.
Maybe the relationship between you and your child is difficult. We offer to help you to talk things over. If you wish to we can arrange professional counseling for you and your child.

We see ourselves as spokeswomen for your children. In one-to-one conversation and group sessions your child is given opportunity to express her/his fears and anxieties.

We offer supervised group activities for children of different age groups. Here the child meets other kids living in the shelter and can find new friends. For us it is a great opportunity to get to know your child.

We can give support and assistance

when your child changes school or day-care center ("Kita")
when planning and organizing your child's holidays
when there are problems with child custody agreements and regulations
when you are looking for a club your child might want to join or other recreational activities for children
wen registering your new address, applying for child benefits, filing alimony claims etc.

What we offer

group activities for school kids Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon
group activities for pre-school kids Thursday afternoon
Kids' Breakfast for kids 2 years and older Monday between 10 am and noon
emergency child-care (please make arrangements well in advance)
lending of games, books and art & handicraft supplies
use of play room (please pick up before leaving the room)
open groups for women with children to work on specific topics (when needed or desired)
